Have a business idea but hesitating to take the leap?
Most people feel daunted at the prospect of starting their own business venture.
This causes them to delay action - there's always something more urgent to do than follow your dreams.
Maybe you've spent months or even years thinking about this idea but not moved forward very far.
But if we don't follow our dreams we'll be left disillusioned and unfulfilled.
Women have considerable success as business owners, but only if they have the courage and discipline to keep going.

Not sure if you're cut out for life as business owner?
You've heard that self-employment and business building is hard work. It is.
The pressure of demands and the need to be resilient is high.
We talk about being in charge of our own hours but more often than not we're trying to play all the instruments in the orchestra ourselves.
Business leaders need to know how to manage their anxiety, how to develop a plan and commit to it.
Running your own business is not for everyone, but missing your chance to take one of the most exciting journeys of your life is a tragedy!

Tried before and it didn't work out?
Do you have a vision but no plan to get there?
Perhaps you keep making a start and don't know where to go from there.
So you keep going round and round in circles without making progress. Exhausting and demoralising!
Process is the most powerful tool in getting to our goals.
Without the right processes, energy is wasted and confidence and motivation diminish.
We need an informed plan we can stick to.
Women Sell Themselves Short
Research shows that while women are as capable as men, they can often be less confident at work. For example, while men will apply for jobs when they don't meet all the criteria, women will wait till they meet all the criteria and feel they probably do so more than others before applying.
Women leaders also have a tendency to want to be liked which can mean they hold back from putting themselves forward or rocking the boat.
And the pandemic and working remotely has had a negative impact on women getting their views heard and even getting promoted.

How successful will your new venture be?
Where do you sit on the Ladder?
We go through these stages as we prepare to start a business venture.
Perhaps you are at LEVEL 1: Prospecting. You are looking around for the best idea but no real focus.
Perhaps you are at LEVEL 2: Primed. You now have clarity on your idea and you're excited about the possibilities in the future. You find yourself hesitating when you come to the action though. Your self-belief is failing or maybe you don't have conviction around your plan.
At LEVEL 3: Unpredictable You launch but the action, at first enthusiastic, becomes stop-start as you identify roadblocks, have not developed a cadence and are not accountable - confidence wanes and the project holts.
At LEVEL 4: Performing Moving in a fairly straight line from idea to successful execution, your confidence grows as you see the results of the action. There's a proven structured plan and you execute it.. You're on fire and so is the business idea.
Where are you now on the ladder and how does it feel to be there? How would it be to be at LEVEL 4? What could you get done and how would it feel?
Take a look at this Venn diagram. This is how you're going to get there.

PURPOSE
Identifying our purpose and hence our positioning and identity is central to how we develop our offer and how we engage with our market
What are we here for?
What is the benefit of what we are selling?
Why does our business exist?
OFFER
Who is our target?
What are their pain points? What are the problems we can solve for them?
How will we solve them?
What is are we offering and how do we articulate that, and deliver it?
How do we make ourselves easy to buy?
SALES AND MARKETING
New businesses often try to sell before they market. This is like proposing marriage on a first date.
Business to business to business marketing requires a plan, discipline and a commitment to increasing leads and building ever closer relationships with them.

Yet, there is also the ability to spark off Sara’s own diverse career and life experiences.
