Love the work but resistant about selling?
Most people feel daunted at the prospect of running a business venture - they may love the work but being responsible for sales is another matter.
Small businesses often suffer from 'feast and famine' sales and often there's only one person taking responsibility for the income.
Maybe you feel there's something disingenuous about selling or perhaps fear rejection.
But selling is helping and marketing makes selling easy
With a simple marketing plan and a change of perspective and behaviour on sales, your income can come more easily and more smoothly.

Not sure if you're cut out for life as a business leader?
You've heard that people leadership and business building is hard work. It is.
The pressure of demands and the need to be resilient is high.
We talk about being in charge but more often than not we're trying to play all the instruments in the orchestra ourselves.
Business leaders need to know how to manage their anxiety, how to develop a plan and commit to it.
Running a business is not for everyone, but missing your chance to take one of the most exciting journeys of your life is a tragedy!

Anxious about people management?
Do you often feel people are more of a liability than an asset?
Perhaps you think it would be easier if you could somehow do all the work yourself.
So you view people management as needing to control how others work.
Management is about control but leadership is about empowerment.
Empowering others needs careful planning and a change of mindset.
We need an informed plan that commits to devolving responsibility in a safe way.
Women Sell Themselves Short
Research shows that while women are as capable as men, they can often be less confident at work. For example, while men will apply for jobs when they don't meet all the criteria, women will wait till they meet all the criteria and feel they probably do so more than others before applying.
Women leaders also have a tendency to want to be liked which can mean they hold back from putting themselves forward or rocking the boat.
And the pandemic and working remotely has had a negative impact on women getting their views heard and even getting promoted.

Stages of Building an Autonomous Progressive Company
LEVEL 1: PASSIVE
- Owners have all the authority and all the responsibility
- The company is institutionalised and initiative is low
- The company is responsible for project but not business outcomes
- They look to you to take the lead
- 80-100% of sales are through one leader
LEVEL 2: PURPOSEFUL
- Shared responsibility for business outcomes
- The company is motivated by business outcomes
- The company has greater authority to match their responsibilities
- 50-80% are through one leader
LEVEL 3: PROGRESSIVE
- The company has a high-functioning leadership team
- Day-to-day business leadership is done by them
- They are motivated by, trained in and rewarded for this leadership
- You are still involved in strategic decisions and major client relationship
- You spend most of your time on the business, not in the business
- 30-50% of the sales are through one leader

How Successful will the Company be under your Leadership?
Where do you sit on the ladder?
We go through these stages as we develop our leadership skills.
Perhaps you are at LEVEL 1: Supervisor. Guiding the team but very much task-focused. Not focused on what your business needs.
Perhaps you are at LEVEL 2: Expert Technician. Very confident in your technical abilities, respected for that and able to pass these on. However, running the business is not what you're focussed on.
At LEVEL 3: Manager Controlling work and outputs - and your team, so they deliver the best work.
However, as they are helping you with your work they feel dis empowered and lose confidence. Avoids sales and marketing if possible!
At LEVEL 4: Leader Courageous and skilled. Knows how to delegate in a way that empowers. Does not spend time on lower level tasks. Plays at the top of her game , on projects, with clients and in leading the business. Confident with sales and marketing.
Where are you now on the ladder and how does it feel to be there? How would it be to be at LEVEL 4? What could you get done and how would it feel?
Take a look at this Venn diagram. This is how you're going to get there.

Yet, there is also the ability to spark off Sara’s own diverse career and life experiences.
And it is huge fun too, as Sara makes it all the more enriching with her fantastic sense of humour and making it feel ‘real’ and applicable rather than theoretical and pie in the sky!

"I've had lots of feedback from the leadership team that they find the communication work and the follow up that Sara does really useful."
Sara’s personal experience, solid frameworks, and really robust thinking is really helpful.
As the business continues to grow and evolve it requires many more people to be involved in the company and for us to harness those skillsets and talents Sara's frameworks and experience were really useful in helping us to understand each other much, much better and how we could better work with one another.
It's a confronting idea that business is not all just about managing performance and managing numbers. It's about managing people; which Sara's work demonstrates really ably. For this reason, I'd really recommend that management teams open themselves up to the training that Sara provides.
I've had lots of feedback from the leadership team that they find the communication work and the follow up that Sara does really useful.
